Drainage report review.

Practical notes on repair matrices, source evidence and early budgets.

Start with the rules you have agreed.

A repair matrix should reflect the customer or contract. Check the defect codes, grades and conditions before applying it to a job. A consistent result starts with a suitable set of rules.

If a report uses an unfamiliar code, check what it means and how it fits the matrix before treating the result as ready for issue.

Keep the source beside the finding.

A short observation is useful, but the report page and photograph can add context. Check the location, extent and surrounding condition when reviewing an unusual defect.

Keeping the source reference with the worklist makes it easier for another reviewer to follow the finding.

A repair estimate needs a clear basis.

Pipe size, access, depth, cleaning and flow control can all affect the cost. Keep the repair quantity and the date of any pricing reference visible, and check what the allowance includes.

Early budget guidance helps with a discussion. The final scope and quotation still need the contractor's checks.
